I began flying back in 1987 while still in college and earned my
private pilot's license in 1990. I learned to fly in the busy San
Francisco airspace and am no stranger to safe flight in congested
airspace. I continued to fly while working in various sales and
marketing roles for a series of successful high tech companies in the
Silicon Valley, including Network Appliance, PLX Technology and
others.
Then, in the summer of 2003 I decided to open a new chapter in my
life: It was time for a change and I realized that my passion for flight should
be shared. I quit my job as the director of Asia-Pacific sales at
Peribit Networks and chose to make flight instruction my career. Why?
Because I was gone 70-80% of the time, racking up about 250,000 paid
miles a year on United Airlines traveling to Asia every week. Although
very successful at my position and living a life that others only
dream about: traveling to exotic locations like Hong Kong, Japan,
Thailand, Singapore, Australia and Vietnam, staying in 6 star hotels,
eating in the finest establishments, I found that my stress levels
were off the charts...
These days, I live a much simpler and stress free life. When I am not
giving flight instruction, I can usually be found surfing at various not so
secret spots along the Northern California coast, spending time with
my friends, family and my dog, Roxy.
